Now it is very clear who will become number 1 in the WithU team: It is the previous Suzuki Ecstar factory driver Alex Rins. The Malaysian team owner is set to part ways with the disappointing Andrea Dovizioso and, following the deal with Aprilia (rather than Yamaha), told he will be signing a young rider with MotoGP for the Italians’ new junior team, in consultation with Aprilia race director Massimo Rivola -Employ experience (and achievements) plus a young rider who may one day be promoted to the Aprilia factory team. Two spots are still open in the LCR Honda customer team, now driven by Alex Márquez and Taka Nakagami, one spot alongside Pol Espargaró at KTM Tech3 and two spots in Razlan Razali’s new WithU RNF Aprilia team. And Red Bull KTM on Thursday have Jack Miller as a new signing and future team partner of Brad Binder announced. But Aprilia Racing have signed Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales for a further two years, Monster Yamaha will continue with Fabio Quartararo until the end of 2024 and with Morbidelli at least until the end of 2023. The factory teams are all filled, although Repsol-Honda are yet to announce the signing of Joan Mir and Ducati Lenovo has not confirmed the signing of Enea Bastianini as a teammate of Pecco Bagnaia.
Most places in the 2023 MotoGP starting field, which has shrunk to 22 riders, have been taken.
